Why it's high-risk

The fiat side is the hard side

Accepting crypto is easy. Getting card acquiring for on-ramp flows, and a bank account that survives the next policy review — that's where digital-asset businesses actually get stuck. The right partners treat compliance as a feature, not a reason to decline.

  • AML/KYC and travel-rule obligations make banks cautious
  • Volatility and irreversibility raise perceived settlement risk
  • Fragmented, fast-moving global regulation (MiCA, VASP regimes and more)
  • Fraud and money-laundering exposure requires strong monitoring
  • Reputational caution and blanket de-risking of the sector by banks

Answers

Crypto acquiring & banking — your questions

Why did my bank close my crypto business account?

Usually nothing you did. Banks periodically re-score whole sectors, and when digital assets get re-rated the exits go out in batches — often with a form letter and a 30- or 60-day deadline. The fix isn't arguing with the bank that left; it's moving to an institution whose licence and risk framework were built with crypto in mind, and keeping a second account so the next policy change isn't an emergency.

Can a crypto business get card acquiring for fiat?

Yes, if the licensing is in order. Acquirers that take digital-asset merchants will want to see your VASP registration or equivalent authorisation for every market you sell into, clean KYC on the company and its owners, and a sensible story on chargebacks. Card-buying of crypto is one of the most scrutinised flows in payments, so the bar is real — but it is a bar, not a wall.

Do you work with unlicensed projects?

No. If your activity needs a registration or licence in the markets you serve and you don't have one, no serious provider will onboard you and neither will we. What we can do is tell you which jurisdictions' authorisations the providers in our network actually accept, so you sequence the licensing work in the right order.

How does settlement work — fiat, stablecoin or both?

Depends on the partner and on what your treasury needs. We place gateways that accept crypto and settle to you in fiat, off-ramps that turn balances into bank money, and banking partners that will hold the fiat side without flinching at the word crypto. Most operators end up wanting a mix, and the mix changes as volumes grow.

How long does it take to get live?

Introductions go out within 24 to 72 hours. Gateway integrations can be live in days. Card acquiring and banking take longer — typically two to six weeks depending on jurisdiction, licensing and how fast your documents come together.
